Breast feeding

There is nothing more satisfying than to breast feed your newborn. The wonderful bonding a mother has with her child. This is none other experience you can compare to.

With breast feeding there can come disappointments:
One would be that you do not produce enough milk for your little one. You may be able to breast feed of a few weeks or add to what milk you produce with formula.
Another could be your milk is not thick enough for your baby to hold down. When my daughter was born some 30 years ago, her muscle at the top of her stomach was not developed. When I would breast feed her she would throw it back up. I was told my milk was too thin. I changed to formula and stopped breast feeding. I was later told by another doctor about this muscle and I had to not hold her while I feed her. If she sat in an infant seat while feeding her and for a half an hour after, she would hold her milk down. After it was too late, I could have pumped my milk and gave it to her. I did not know.

For the first time moms who plan on breast feeding, you may want to rent your breast pump instead of buying one out right. Breast pumps are expensive and are non-returnable. Before you put $200 - $300 into a breast pump, try renting one from Airway Oxygen for $100.00 a month. This way if things do not go as planned, you are not out big money. A breast pump is not something you can hand down. When one uses one, it is pretty much wore out at the end of use.

I hope this little tip will be helpful to you all.

The exceptional Baby Shower gifts

Would you like to be the person at the baby shower who gives the unique gift, no one else ever thought of? The one gift that leaves the new mother thinking why I would need these things, will thank you after a few months for the clever objects.

Here is a list of a few things you could make a basket out of or a little goody bag to go with another practical gift:

  • Electrical helper outlet safety caps – New Mom is not thinking of a small child crawling around or a toddler trying to stick their little fingers in the electric sockets. Later she will thank you.

  • Cupboard safety locks – The new baby is growing up now and reaches for the under-the-sink cupboard full of cleaning products. She can go to the gift basket from you and take care of that problem right now and no emergencies trip to the hospital.

  • Tub nozzle cover – This is so the small child is not burned from hot water or hit their head on them and maybe have to have stitches.

  • Bathtub toy net – Where to go with all the plastic boats, rubber ducks, or small animals they play with in the bathtub. Another gift not thought of by the new mom.

  • Snowsuit – If baby is born in the fall, they will need a snowsuit come winter. This will be a practical gift to grow into.

  • Blanket cover for the car seat – Keeps baby warm on cold days or nights of traveling.

  • Swim suit – If baby is born in the spring, this will be great gift to give for the summer days ahead.

Boo Boo Shower Gift

This is a great idea for a baby shower. You can get a cute basket and put these things into it with tissue paper in between... These gifts will not be duplicated at the shower and the newbie mom will thank you later for thinking ahead of her. Newbie Dad will thank you because he will not have to get out in the middle of the night to get one of these items
Give the unique baby shower gift everyone will be talking about for a long time.

Baby boo-boo kit – This kit can be a wonderful thing to have in the middle of the night and baby is not feeling well.

  • Forehead temperature indicator – Check for a fever.
  • Digital thermometer or ear thermometer – to get more of an accurate reading;
  • Gas drops - Like Mylicon, but double check with your pediatrician.
  • Motrin infants Drops – Again check with your pediatrician before giving, but this is great to have on hand for a small fever or teething.
  • Alcohol wipes - never know when the little one may have a scrape, cut, or dirt to be taken care of.
  • Medicine syringe – to distribute the given medicine.

  • Hand Sanitizer - To keep those germs away.
